Imereti region of Georgia and Guizhou Province of China: signing of a memorandum of cooperation

During the official visit to China, the Governor of Imereti, Zviad Shalamberidze, signed a memorandum of cooperation with the head of Guizhou Province, Li Bingjun. This document provides for the further development and strengthening of relations between the two regions in economic, trade, cultural, tourism, educational and other important areas.

Also during the visit, the Governor of Imereti visited the twelfth exhibition of alcoholic beverages, where wines from Imereti received high marks from experts, a Chinese construction company that is engaged in the construction of a highway in Imereti, and Guiyang Medical University, where areas of mutual activity with higher educational institutions of China were discussed.

Tourism is an important area of cooperation between Georgia and China. The visa-free regime for Chinese citizens introduced by Georgia on 11.09.2023 will undoubtedly allow surpassing the docklike figures (48 thousand tourists in 2019).

So, the signing of the memorandum of cooperation and the subsequent enhanced exchange between Georgia and China in economic, tourism, educational and other spheres opens up new prospects for both countries.
