The David the Builder Monument in Kutaisi is an equestrian statue of one of Georgia's most revered kings. The bronze figure was made by the sculptor Elguja Amashukeli, and the monument was set up in 1995. David IV Agmashenebeli ruled for 36 years, united the country, defeated the Seljuk Turks and began Georgia's Golden Age.
Until 2011 the statue stood in the centre, on David Agmashenebeli Square, but it was moved to the railway station to make room for the Colchis Fountain. The monument now stands on a rise: a staircase leads up to it, a palm-lined avenue surrounds it, and from the top there is a view of the city and the river. The Galileo fitness centre is nearby, and the station building is opposite.

    История впечатляет, но что-то пошло не так. Ожидал вдохновения и глубокой связи с прошлым, а наткнулся на сухую экскурсию. Места, безусловно, значимые, но хотелось бы больше информации и интерактивных элементов, которые помогли бы оживить эту часть грузинской истории. Вроде бы интересное место, но чувство незавершенности не покидает.

    Лестница к памятнику впечатляет — реставрация нижнего участка идет полным ходом, но это нисколько не портит вид. Наслаждение видами, которые открываются при подъеме, чем-то сродни бесплатному бонуску: потратился только на билет до Кутаиси, а такие прекрасные моменты навсегда в памяти.

    Потрясающее место, чтобы зарядиться энергией с утра! Восхитительные виды, открывающиеся отсюда, стимулируют начать день активно. Особенно понравились пальмовые аллеи, они придают особый шарм и уют. Место очень хорошее для утренней пробежки, рядом фитнес-центр — это удобно. Давид IV как символ настойчивости и силы вдохновляет на победы каждого дня. Сравнивал другие места в городе, но это место захватило душу своим спокойствием и атмосферой. Не жалею ни секунды, что пришел сюда.

    This beautiful location provides great views for photos and more. Located next to the Galileo Fitness Center, making it a great place for a morning run. We are talking about King David Agmashenebeli, who lived in the name of saving his religion. If you climb up the stairs, you can see a beautiful view right in front of you, along the road strewn with palm trees.
