How much is the Tbilisi funicular, and how do you get to it?

Price, the Mtatsminda Park card and where the lower station is.

Short answer

A one-way ride on the funicular up Mount Mtatsminda in Tbilisi costs about 10-12 GEL, paid with a separate Mtatsminda Park card that costs 2 GEL; the regular transport card does not work. The lower station is at 22 Daniel Chonkadze Street, above Rustaveli Avenue. The ride takes a few minutes, with a stop at the Pantheon and St David's Church on the way.

Why

  1. The funicular has run since 1905 and is not part of the city transport system.
  2. Several people can share one park card, which is also used for the rides.
  3. You can also reach Mtatsminda by the new cable car from Rustaveli Avenue.

Details

Entry to Mtatsminda Park is free. The street up to the lower station is steep, so with children or heavy bags a taxi is easier.
