The Bridge of Peace in Tbilisi: how to get there and is it free?
The glass footbridge, its lights and what's nearby.
Short answer
The Bridge of Peace is a glass-and-steel footbridge over the Kura linking the Old Town with Rike Park, and crossing it is free. It opened in 2010, designed by Italian architect Michele De Lucchi, and in the evening its wave-shaped canopy glows with thousands of LEDs. It's an easy walk from Freedom Square or the Abanotubani baths.
Why
- The lights come on after sunset and sometimes display messages.
- The lower station of the Narikala cable car is right by the bridge.
- Rike Park by the bridge hosts concerts and has singing fountains.
Details
The best photos of the bridge are from the embankment or from above at Narikala fortress. It's busy in the evening, so keep your belongings close.
Tip
Pair the bridge with the Narikala cable car, whose lower station is nearby in Rike Park.
Common misconception
