The Abudelauri Lakes: how to get there and what to see?
Three coloured lakes below Chaukhi in Khevsureti.
Short answer
The Abudelauri Lakes are three small mountain lakes, blue, green and white, at the foot of the Chaukhi massif in Khevsureti. A hiking trail leads from the village of Roshka, about 2-3 hours one way. The trail is passable roughly from June to September, when it's free of snow.
Why
- Roshka is 3-4 hours from Tbilisi, and the last stretch is best done by 4x4.
- The white lake lies by a glacier and its water is very cold.
- Mountain weather changes fast, so bring a raincoat and warm layers.
Details
You can stay at a guesthouse in Roshka and start the trail in the morning. Experienced hikers continue over the Chaukhi Pass to Juta, a challenging all-day trek.
Tip
Start the trail early, as mountain weather often turns by midday.
What may differ
Mountain weather changes quickly, and some roads and trails are open only in summer.
