Short answer

The easiest route from Batumi to Turkey is through the Sarpi crossing 15-18 kilometres from the city: city bus 16 and minibuses go there, and you can cross on foot. On the Turkish side, minibuses run to Hopa, Rize and Trabzon, and there are direct coaches from Batumi to Trabzon and Istanbul. The trip to Trabzon takes about three to four hours.
