How do you get from Batumi to Shekvetili?
Minibus, taxi and what to see there.
Short answer
Shekvetili is about 45 kilometres north of Batumi, a 45-60 minute trip. Minibuses towards Ureki and Ozurgeti go there, and a taxi costs about 50-70 GEL. People visit for the seaside pine forest, the dendrological park, the miniature park and concerts at the Black Sea Arena.
Why
- Shekvetili's beach has dark magnetic sand, like neighbouring Ureki.
- The Black Sea Arena hosts big concerts in summer.
- Ask the minibus driver to stop at your spot, as there are many along the road.
Details
Minibuses no longer run after arena concerts, so arrange a taxi or transfer in advance. Shekvetili combines well with Ureki in one trip.
Tip
Take water and mosquito repellent: there can be plenty in the seaside pine forest.
What may differ
Taxi fares depend on season and time, and rise sharply after arena concerts.
