Where is the best place to stay in Batumi?
The Old Town, New Boulevard and quiet spots by the sea.
Short answer
In Batumi, the Old Town and the area by the Seaside Boulevard are most convenient for visitors, within walking distance of the sea, restaurants and main sights. The New Boulevard area has many high-rises with sea views and short-term flats. Makhinjauri, Gonio and Kvariati are quieter and closer to clearer water, but you will need to travel into the centre.
Why
- Cafes, museums and nightlife are concentrated in the Old Town.
- The New Boulevard has more new apartments, but construction continues around them.
- In summer, places by the sea cost noticeably more than further inland.
Details
When booking a flat in a high-rise, check that the lift works and that there is no construction nearby. For holidays with small children, sandy Kobuleti or Shekvetili are easier.
