Short answer
Svaneti is a high-mountain historical region in northwest Georgia along the Main Caucasus Ridge, known for its medieval Svan towers and the village of Ushguli. The centre of Upper Svaneti is Mestia, about three hours from Zugdidi by mountain road or reachable by domestic flights from Tbilisi. Upper Svaneti is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Details
