Kakheti is a region in eastern Georgia in the Alazani valley, the country's main wine region, centred on Telavi. Highlights include the town of Sighnaghi, Bodbe Monastery, Alaverdi Cathedral, Gremi fortress, the Tsinandali estate and Nekresi Monastery, plus tastings at the wineries. Sighnaghi and Telavi are about two hours' drive from Tbilisi.
