  • Description

The architectural monument "Royal Palace of the Romanovs" in Chakvi is a historical estate located on the picturesque coast. Until 1917, the estate belonged to Prince Romanov, brother of the Russian Tsar, and was famous for its location overlooking the sea. With the communists coming to power, the estate was transformed into a branch of the Soviet Agricultural University for research in the field of tea and citrus crop production under the leadership of academician Ksenia Bakhtadze.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the building gradually fell into disrepair, but the process of its restoration has recently begun. Current efforts to restore the estate are attracting the attention of both historians and tourists interested in the history of the Russian Empire and the Soviet period. The Romanov estate in Chakvi is an excellent place to study the cultural and agricultural heritage of the region.
