The sights of Georgia find recognition not only within the country, but also around the world. Some of the buildings of the architectural ensemble located in the community are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. If you are interested in religious life and architecture, there is definitely something to see in Georgia.
The church dates back to the 15th century and belongs to the late medieval religious building. The architect of St. George's Church was inspired by the image and decor of the Lamarie Church, as far as it turned out, you should see for yourself.
The form of the temple reminds a three-sided screen, which turns into a ledge ending with a semicircular apse. The attention to the apse is attracted by a carved arched window, which allows sunlight to enter the church. On the west side there is also a carved window with an embellishment in the form of a relief cross on the upper frame.
The walls of the church inside and outside are covered with plaster and there are stone slabs on the floor. On the west side stands the only arched entrance to the church, the wooden door of which is decorated with ornaments. At the entrance there is a view of the altar and the iconostasis, and in the center there is an exit in the form of an arch.
On the sides of the opening, in the recesses, there are miniature recesses in the form of an arch for icons. The altar ledge on all sides continues into the apse. The vault of the temple is divided into two parts by an overhang and is supported by arched arches whose bases are terminated by pilasters.
