Cultural landmark - Timotesubani or Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The appearance and history of this complex.
Georgia is an incredibly beautiful country with many historical and religious sites. Timotesubani or Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin is one of the oldest monuments, which is striking in its beauty. Blog "MadLoba" gives incredibly beautiful pictures and necessary information for tourists.
Georgia's sights are some of the most beautiful and unusual in the world. They have beauty and mystery, deep meaning and a reminder of history. The architecture is always simple and beautiful. But we will look at the most beautiful places in Georgia. One such place is Timotesubani or Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (official name).
History
The temple was built in the XII-XIII centuries in the settlement of Timotesubani, Borjomi region, Shalva Eristavt-Eristavi Akhaltsikheli, the owner of Tori. The central temple - the most important historical monument of Georgian culture, was consecrated in the name of the Assumption of the Virgin.

Architecture
In terms of architecture, the temple is simple in design. The building with the cross is 28 meters high, 12 meters wide and only 11 meters long. The pointed windows are located in the northern walls of the building. The dome consists of azure bricks.
Shalvoy Eristavt-Eristavi Akhaltsikheli decided to give Timotesubani a twist, namely to paint it in a special way. The painting of the temple is considered to be one of the most complex of that time and is unique. The monastery was painted in 1205-1215, during the reign of Queen Tamara. Many frescoes have survived to our time.
To the north of the terrace is a small comfortable single-nave basilica, named after St. Barbara, and a little east of it are the ruins of the stone tomb.
The uniqueness of the architecture gives Timotesubani (Church of the Assumption) the right to enter the top of the most beautiful places in Georgia.
I advise you to visit the temple not only because of its beauty, but also if you are a lover of history and art. This is just the place where you can find your own inspiration for new masterpieces.
Holidays here will be remembered for a lifetime, from the abundance of memories on your face will shine with a smile. Be sure to visit Timotesubani or the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
