The Poti Lighthouse is the highest means of navigation equipment on the Black Sea coast of Georgia. In 1858, Poti was declared a port city. And with that time there was a need to build a lighthouse. The lighthouse was made in 1862 by an English company. After transporting parts of the lighthouse structure from London to Poti, British engineers constructed a lighthouse from cast tiles using bolts and nuts according to a special numbering. Inside the lighthouse there is a cast-iron twisted staircase with 160 steps that lead to the optical apparatus. The lighthouse offers a view of the city and the confluence of the Rioni River into the Black Sea. In the distance you can see the cranes of the Poti port. The material is cast iron. The total mass of the lighthouse is 126 tons, the height is 36.6 meters, the illumination horizon is 17 nautical miles. Now the lighthouse operates under the guidance of the State Hydrographic Service of Georgia.
