The village Mgvimevi is located in the municipality of Chiatura. Located 3 km from the administrative center of Chiatura, it rises 620 meters above sea level. This cave is a complex of two-storey shelters and cavities, located in the rock.

The cave was fully explored in 1944. There were found the remains of material culture, which are attributed to the middle of the Upper Paleolithic. One of the cavities on the wall is particularly interesting. On it, there is a linear geometric image, carved by primitive man, which has survived until today.

In the village Mgvimevi you can also visit a convent of amazing beauty, located near the mentioned cave. One of the temples located on the territory of the monastery is the Church of Christ the Savior.

It is a two-nave basilica. Carved ornaments, with which the facade of the building is covered, and preserved wall frescos will impress you indelibly. The wooden iconostasis, which is one of the temple's most striking attractions, is also fully covered with paintings. There are two temples in the monastery.

The second is a small temple of the hall type. An interesting feature of this construction is that its ceiling and back wall are a natural rock. You will also be impressed by the eastern and southern walls: on the eastern wall is a bas-relief of the head of a ram, and on the southern wall is painted with frescoes.
