One of the landmarks in Georgia, the Church of Our Lady, is such because of the way it was built. It was built of wild hewn stones.
In Kvemo Kartli, in the village Ayazma there is one of the oldest cathedrals, which is more than 15 centuries old - the Church of the Mother of God.

This cathedral is already more than 15 centuries old as the period of its appearance belongs to approximately 6-7 centuries.
According to its architecture, the church is hall, which means that it is quite spacious and light, because that is characteristic of this style. In the eastern part there is a central semicircular apse. It is called the ledge in the building, the height is noticeably lower than the main part, is blocked at the top often half-dome. The northern and western parts also have apses.

The temple has the traditional two entrances: the northern and the western, which for beauty is decorated with an arch. Entering through the northern entrance in front of you will open the image of the cross, as well as the preserved inscription of 4 lines, written in Asomtavruli (one of the types of ancient Georgian script) and dates back to 1045. It mentions the name of Zakaria who built the annex to the temple and the name of the Catholicos (supreme patriarch) Ocropir.
In one corner, the northwest corner, there is a circular column with a post, on which the image of a deer can be seen on the right, a cross at the top, and Rosetti on the left.
The material used for the construction was a huge wild stone, which was machined and ground to a square shape.
The fence of the church is made of similarly large stones and was constructed using a dry stacking technique.
If you want to walk around the grounds, you can find and examine several tombstones. Some depict the rider, others depict the ktitors or in other words the sponsors who gave money for the construction of the temple, as well as images of crosses, multi-pronged stars and other symbols.
Sights in Georgia are able to surprise you with even more than such finds. The main thing is to know where to look.
