The Dumbadze Family House is an old Batumi house that has kept its family setting and the character of early twentieth century town building. You look at the interiors, the furniture and the belongings of several generations, and at the architecture itself: the wooden details, the staircases, the plan. The format is intimate, closer to visiting a private home than to walking a museum.
The house stands on Tedo Sakhokia street in central Batumi, among the blocks of older building. Piazza square, the boulevard and the main streets are all within walking distance. The block is interesting in itself: balconies, ironwork, old facades.
The house is small and half an hour is enough. The visit is easier to plan for the first half of the day and to arrange in advance. Combine it with a walk through old Batumi, a couple of hours covers the whole quarter.
Tips
- Combine the visit with a walk through old Batumi, the house is in that quarter
- Look at the wooden details of the facade, a local tradition
- Come outside the peak season, the centre is crowded in summer
How to get there
- About five minutes on foot from Piazza square along Tedo Sakhokia street
- Parking in the quarter is paid, it is easier to leave the car by the boulevard
