On our last night in Tbilisi, we opted for something different from the traditional Georgian cuisine we had enjoyed during our stay and chose to try Asian food. Located on the top floor of the Swisshotel, the restaurant offered stunning views of the city. We arrived around 8:30 PM and were the only customers at first, later joined by another couple.
The decor was stylish and modern, which was also reflected in the menus that unrolled for the food and required a UV torch for the cocktail selections. We were a bit concerned that the presentation might overshadow the food quality. The menu featured a variety of pan-Asian dishes, including sushi, sashimi, and Chinese noodles and rice. We decided to share some sushi as an appetizer and ordered a noodle dish and rice for our mains, along with some drinks.
While we had a pleasant meal overall, there were several areas needing improvement before I would recommend it. The sushi rolls were supposed to have orange fish eggs, but they were missing. The sesame seeds on the outside weren't toasted, which made them soggy and sticky rather than crunchy.
The drink service was quite slow. We only received our drinks after finishing our starters, and that was only because we inquired about them. There were two staff members at the bar, and given that we were the only customers in the restaurant at that time, the delay was disappointing. My wife's cocktail was enjoyable when it finally arrived, and my beer was adequate, though I was surprised that of the 6 or 7 beers listed on the menu, only 2 were available.
When the main courses came, they appeared small but were actually filling. My wife's seafood rice was flavorful, and my beef udon noodles were similar. However, the beef was quite chewy, and I encountered the same issue with the sesame seeds as I did with the sushi.
The bill seemed reasonable considering the food and service we received. I realize this review highlights several minor flaws, but for a restaurant aiming for a high-end image, these issues should not occur—especially since we were the only diners for part of our meal.
