The Serioja Chanturidze House Museum keeps the setting of a village house and the objects tied to the name of its owner: furniture, photographs, documents and everyday things. Imereti house museums are valuable for the wholeness of the setting: the rooms were not rearranged for display, and daily life reads directly. Everything is shown in person.
The house stands in Zeda Sazano, a village in the Terjola municipality, on the hills between Terjola and Zestafoni. Around it are vineyards, orchards and local roads. The place is off the highway and the tourist flow passes it by.
The house is small and half an hour is enough. The first half of the day is the easier time, and it is better to arrange the visit through the village in advance. Combine the trip with a wider Imereti route.
Tips
- Check the way in the village, signposts may be missing
- Combine the trip with Terjola and Zestafoni
- Come in dry weather, village roads are harder after rain
How to get there
- From Terjola along the local road, about fifteen minutes by car
- Roughly forty minutes from Kutaisi via Zestafoni and Terjola
