I took a while to decide on writing this, but I feel compelled to speak up for safety reasons. The artist is really nice, but during my session, the hygiene standards were very troubling. The work area wasn't sterile or covered properly. Used needles and bloody tissues were on the same surface as ink bottles and other supplies, which is a serious contamination risk.
At one point, part of the tattoo machine dropped onto a filthy floor and was picked up with the same gloves, which weren't changed. Also, the skin was tattooed without any sanitizer or shaving.
The studio had visible dirt and black mold on the walls. While there was an autoclave, I'm doubtful the machine grips are sterilized properly between clients.
Afterwards, I was very anxious and had to wait months to get blood tests to ensure I was okay. No one should have to deal with that stress after getting a tattoo.
I'm not criticizing the artist personally, but I hope these issues are addressed. Hygiene in tattooing is crucial for health and safety.
