This place carries a piece of its own notable history. Once, it was home to a powerful and legendary football club for Georgians, along with its renowned players and coaches. However, that was many decades back. Now, there is nothing remarkable or strong about it. It remains just a football club, bearing the same old name, but it's very weak and insignificant.

Футбольный клуб был основан в 1925 году и имеет богатую историю успехов. В 1981 году команда завоевала Кубок Кубков, обыграв с результатом 2:1 восточногерманский клуб "Карл Цейсс". Голы в той игре забили Гуцаев и Дараселия. Клуб дважды становился чемпионом СССР и обладателем Кубка. В Грузии они 16 раз выигрывали чемпионат и 13 раз кубок страны, а также семь раз завоевывали Суперкубок Грузии.
