Public School No. 202 in Tbilisi is the only secondary educational institution in Georgia dedicated to blind and visually impaired students. Founded in 1901, it has been providing not only education but also a foundation for independence and personal growth for more than a century.
The school building is an elegant red-brick structure located on the outskirts of the capital. Carved wooden entrance gates, two traditional qvevri in the courtyard, and the Georgian flag create a dignified atmosphere. Yet the true value of this place lies in its 45 students.
The school offers a full secondary education with adapted programs and a supportive environment tailored to the needs of visually impaired learners. Here, students gain knowledge, develop confidence, and build the skills necessary for independent living.
School No. 202 remains an important social institution in Georgia — a place where visual impairment does not define a person’s future.
