The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Tbilisi is the regional office of one of the leading intergovernmental organizations within the United Nations system dealing with migration issues. IOM has been active in Georgia since 1993, providing advisory and practical services to both governments and migrants, promoting the humane and orderly management of migration processes. The office's main areas of work include migration and development, migration facilitation and regulation, and forced migration.
IOM’s work in Tbilisi is aimed at improving international cooperation on migration issues, protecting the rights of migrants, and providing humanitarian assistance to those in need, including refugees and internally displaced persons. The organization is actively involved in promoting international migration law, discussing policy issues, developing recommendations and taking into account gender aspects of migration. Cooperation with IOM can be useful both for government agencies interested in improving migration policies and for individuals seeking assistance or advice on migration issues.
