The PROST Museum is an intimate space in the inner courtyard of a residential building, where the display and the atmosphere of the place work together. The format is closer to an artist run venue than to an institution: there are few rooms and the showing is built around the theme of the current exhibition. Check the programme beforehand so you know what you will find.
The space is on Atoneli street, in the block between Rustaveli and the Mtkvari embankment. The courtyard is a through one and the entrance is not from the street, so go by the house number. The district is central, with cafes, bookshops and old stairwells with mouldings around.
It is open from Wednesday to Sunday, from midday until ten at night, closed on Monday and Tuesday. Half an hour to an hour is enough. The evening hours are convenient if the day is taken by the other museums of the centre.
Tips
- Do not plan the visit for Monday or Tuesday, those are the closed days
- Look for the entrance in the courtyard, it is not visible from the street
- Combine the visit with a walk along Atoneli and Rustaveli
How to get there
- About ten minutes on foot from Rustaveli metro station
- Parking in the block is limited, it is easier to leave the car by the embankment
