Garden/Lado Gudiashvili Square is located in Old Tbilisi, one of the two oldest surviving squares of feudal Tbilisi.
The plan of the square was plotted on the map of Tiflis, compiled during the reign of King Heraclius II, in 1785. Then the square was called "Bejan's Garden", then for some time it was called Mughninskaya. In 1827, in honor of the capture of the Persian fortress Abbas-Abad by General I. F. Paskevich, the square was named Abas-Abadskaya.
In Soviet times, the name of the square was Alaverdskaya, in honor of the Russian revolutionary Stepan Alaverdov. But in honor of one of the most famous Georgian artists Lado Gudiashvili, she was named in 1988.
On the square there is one of the most delicious and cozy restaurants in Tbilisi - Pur Pur. There is a monument to lovers in the center of the square.
