The church of the Dormition of the Virgin stands in Zahesi, on the northern edge of Tbilisi. It is an active parish with a settled community.
The site lies where the Kura valley opens towards the Saguramo ridge, and a couple of kilometres east stands the church of St George in Saguramo. Zahesi is built up with private houses and older blocks by the station.
Visits are free and modest dress is appropriate for services. A headscarf is useful for women, and quiet is expected inside.
