You can get to the Tabor Monastery of the Transfiguration both by transport (taxi or your own car) and climb here on foot. Externally, though, the new monastery fits perfectly into the urban environment and is combined with the rest of the older attractions.

Having reached the top of the small mountain on which the monastery stands, you will be amazed by the most beautiful view of the capital of Georgia. We advise you to visit here both day and night to see the differences and consider the beauty of the night city.

Locals often walk around this temple, who will be able to tell you a lot of interesting things and even tell you the way. We recommend you to visit!

It's an exotic and serene place, standing tall with no one around except for a resident monk and possibly his family. The walk from Ioseb Grishhashvili Street across Gertsel Bazovi Street is easy, taking about 15 minutes on well-constructed stone steps, a flat boardwalk, and a sturdy metal staircase. For me, it's a highlight of Tbilisi, offering an amazing view.

Historical records indicate that a church and small fortress existed here since at least the 14th century, with mentions dating back to 1392, 1429, and 1735. It controlled one of the entrances to Tbilisi known as the Ganja door. The site has faced destruction in 1618, 1735, and 1795, but it was restored in 1743. The current church was constructed between 1995 and 2001. You can walk to this temple from Old Tbilisi along a paved path that passes by old houses, with several resting spots, LED lights illuminating the way at night, trash bins, and balconies offering panoramic views. The area is monitored by cameras, and you can enjoy spectacular views of the entire city while ascending. The surroundings are clean and peaceful.

The monastery has a great view of the old town. It's a bit of a walk to reach it. It looks really nice when it's lit up at night.
