On the top of Mount Udzo, located in the municipality of Tbilisi on the eastern slopes of the Trialeti Range, rises a monastery, which is a spiritual refuge at an altitude of 1416 meters. Nestled among green spaces and cool forests, this unique monastery dedicated to St. George offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
The history of this sacred place is permeated with legends and traditions. The Church of St. George, perched on Mount Uzo, is a testament to medieval architecture and spirituality. According to one legend, the church was built by the prayers of a childless man who wanted offspring, and after his prayer was fulfilled, childless women came here to beg St. George for the gift of children. For centuries, the monastery has attracted pilgrims and believers, and people still gather on this sacred land to celebrate the Feast of Childlessness, bringing their prayers and donations in memory of the amazing mercy of the saint.
