    On our first day in Sighnaghi, we went for a wine tasting at a local cellar. We enjoyed two generous glasses of homemade qvevri wine, along with three shots of Chacha and some of the cellar's homemade brandy. The brandy and Chacha were definitely the highlights of the tasting.

    While we were there, the owner asked about our plans in Sighnaghi and offered to take us on a day-long tour the next day. There was no pressure at all; he was just happy to share his number for us to contact him later.

    We ended up going on the tour, which included a visit to Nekresi Monastery, offering breathtaking views of the valley and rich history. We also stopped by two other wineries where we learned about Georgian winemaking traditions and tasted a lot of wine. It was truly an unforgettable day, all thanks to the owner.

    Many places here receive great reviews, but as someone who produces wine, I found the wine to be fantastic, and the chacha was just right. For an authentic local experience, this is definitely the spot!

    This place may not suit everyone, but it was exactly what I wanted. If you're after a fancy tasting experience, look elsewhere—your loss. Gio is fantastic. Just message him on WhatsApp to check if he can show you his cellar that's over 100 years old. You'll end up enjoying more wine and chacha than you'd expect in just half an hour. It was one of the most memorable and unique drinking experiences I've had, and I've had quite a few.

    Our time with Gio was a must for anyone in Georgia: we tasted local, homemade wine from a family that has been making it for generations. Gio was very friendly and open, speaking English well and answering all our questions. The servings were quite generous!
