The church is dedicated to St. Panteleimon, called the Healer in church tradition: people turn to him in prayer for health, and such churches were often raised by hospitals and healing waters. The word Koda is added to the name, yet what it means is not explained.
The place belongs to Sagarejo although it stands six kilometres from the town, closer to the foothills of the Gombori range. The church of St. George of Sagarejo stands about three kilometres away, the ruins of the church of St. Marine four and a half, the nameless church of Giorgitsminda five.
The road from Sagarejo is short, the last kilometres running towards the hills. The parish is in use though services are not held every day. Dress modestly, a headscarf for women, quiet inside, leave offerings untouched.
