The church is dedicated to the apostles Peter and Paul, remembered together in church tradition. Their day, Petropavloba, falls in mid July and closes a fast of several days: in Kakheti villages it remains a notable summer feast.
Sagarejo lies on the plain at the foot of the Gombori range. Neighbours are many around: the ruins of the church of St. Marine stand about one kilometre and four hundred metres away, the church of the Virgin of Ninotsminda village one kilometre and seven hundred, the church of St. George of the town two and a half, the basilica of Giorgitsminda three.
The place is by the town and easy to reach in any weather. The parish is in use: modest dress, a headscarf for women, quiet inside. On Petropavloba in mid July the church can be crowded; at other times it is quiet.
