The church of St George stands on the Gorijvari hill above Sachkhere. The name of the place speaks for itself: gori means hill and jvari means cross, and such rises with a cross are common in Georgia.
The hill opens a view over the town and the Kvirila valley. The climb is short, and the road leads up from the town streets between orchards.
The doors are opened for services; the times can be asked on the spot. Modest dress is appropriate for a visit.
