A village church dedicated to Saint George in Akhrisi. The dedication is the most ordinary one for a Georgian village, while Akhrisi itself is notable for holding two churches that stand close together.
The village lies in Shida Kartli, north of Gori, by the road to Jariasheni. Another church, of the Mother of God, stands about seven hundred metres away, so both come into view almost at once and can be walked in a single stroll.
Count on seeing the church from outside: village churches in this area are not opened every day. The rules are those of any working church: covered shoulders and knees, quiet, and a headscarf for women.
