The church of St. George stands near Pkhvenisi village in the north of Gori Municipality. The church is known by the name of the local Kavti area; it is not to be confused with the Kavti area near Kaspi, which is a different place.
The village lies in the Great Liakhvi valley, where the plain gives way to the foothills. The area is quiet and the road follows the river.
The village is close to the dividing line and movement here is restricted in places, so the route is worth checking in advance and on the spot. Modest clothing is appropriate for a visit.
