The shrine bears the name of St George of Okona: this veneration came from Okona, a village in the mountains of Shida Kartli and the home of one of the well known Georgian icons.
The place lies in the mountains by Grigalati, north of Khashuri. A little over a kilometre away stands the Nebiereti Virgin chapel, and down the slope the church of St Nicholas.
The road here runs along a dirt track through forest and turns soft in the rain. Wear closed shoes and come in daylight.
