Nightingale (Bulbul) Castle in Shida Kartli, Georgia.
- Description
Castle Nightingale (or Bulbul), is a picturesque historical ruin located in the heart of Georgia, in the Shida Kartli region. This castle, hidden among the green hills, is located just one and a half kilometers southwest of the village of Solovey, not far from the road connecting Kvishkheti to Imereti and other parts of the country.
Constructed from durable cobblestones during the feudal period, Nightingale Castle was once an important fortification, a key element of defense and communication between eastern and western Georgia. Today, all that remains of it are picturesque ruins: part of a semicircular tower on the western side and a southern tower with loopholes, stretching 35 meters in length and rising 5 meters in height. The walls of the castle, from 1.2 meters thick at the top to 2 meters at the bottom, remind of the former power and grandeur of this place.
This place is a must-visit for history buffs and fans of ancient ruins. Immersing yourself in the atmosphere of the Middle Ages, you can feel the connection of times and imagine yourself as part of distant history. In addition, the landscape surrounding the castle offers stunning views, ideal for photos and outdoor walks.
