The Zemo Niala church stands in Aspindza Municipality. The hall is laid of shirimi, the local volcanic tuff, on mortar, and the building has already been restored: the roof was covered with sheet metal at the time.
The entrance is on the south side and windows are cut in the east and west walls. There is almost no decoration outside, and the single detail is at the entrance: a cross is carved on the tympanum stone.
Sources place the church in the span from the 10th to the 15th century and lists it as a cultural heritage monument. It can be entered. Not far away, near Gaveti, lie the ruins of the church of Zemo Nyala, of which only two walls remain.
