The convent of St Nino stands in Poka village by the southern shore of highland Lake Paravani. According to church tradition, St Nino entered Georgia through these lands, so the convent bears her name and welcomes pilgrims.
The Javakheti plateau spreads all around: open water, meadows and distant volcanic peaks. The convent lives by prayer and the sisters’ work and keeps its own household.
Guests are welcome yet asked to respect the monastic order: modest dress, a headscarf for women, photography by permission.
