The Khando church stands in Khando village in Akhalkalaki Municipality and belongs to the complex of the Gria church. It is a hall building with a continuous walk along the west and south, laid of well worked ashlars. There are two entrances, in the south and west walls, and the west door is shifted north of the axis.
One arched window sits in each of the east, west and south walls, and the capitals of their surrounds are dressed with the image of a cross. The apse is separated from the hall by side walls, the conch rests on an arch above their pilasters, a step runs along the base of the north wall, and the long walls are divided by a pair of pilasters with plain profiled capitals.
Two stone crosses stand inside at once: one on a pedestal before the sanctuary in the hall, the other by the east wall. An altar stone lies in the sanctuary at the foot of the sacristy, and fragments of a stone stele are placed in a niche of the north wall. The southern part of the walk is a gallery opened by two arches, and it has no apse on the east. An Asomtavruli inscription with a prayer for the departed survives on the south wall beside the arch.
