The mosque stands in the mountainous part of Adigeni Municipality, far from large villages. The building serves a small community, and there is no yard or auxiliary rooms.
The Adigeni district is part of historical Meskheti, which long remained under Ottoman rule, so Muslim communities have lived here for centuries. The nearest marked mosque, Loditsiri, is about seven kilometres away. The area is mountainous and wooded, with roads climbing up the gorges.
Agree any photography inside with the community, as shooting without permission is not accepted. The site remains part of the everyday life of the area, and that deserves respect.
Tips
- Leave spare time for the climb.
- In summer bring a hat, as there is almost no shade.
- Dogs are not brought inside.
Getting there
- Leave the car at the nearest street and continue on foot.
- Navigate by the coordinates, as there may be no signs on the approach.
