    ტაძარი XIX საუკუნეში არის აშენებული. როცა რუსეთის იმპერატორის ძმისწული აბასთუმანში მკურნალობდა, ზარზმის კათედრალი მოინახულა და იმდენად მოეწონა, რომ მსგავსი ტაძარი აბასთუმანში ააშენებინა. ახალი ზარზმა, როგორც ეკლესიას ეწოდება, შიგნით რუსი მხატვრების მიერ არის მოხატული.

    Храм был построен в период с 1896 по 1904 год по инициативе Георгия Александровича, брата Николая II, который лечился от туберкулёза в Абастумани и прожил здесь семь лет. 28 июня 1899 года он неожиданно скончался от болезни, когда возвращался на велосипеде с бензиновым двигателем от Зекарского перевала в Абас-Туман. Во время поездки у него началось кровотечение, и, несмотря на попытки помочь с помощью искусственного дыхания, спасти его не удалось. В храме сохранились великолепные фрески, созданные известным художником Михаилом Васильевичем Нестеровым.
