Lamaria is the Svan name of the Mother of God, and the church of Ats carries it as a second title. It stands by Ieli village, five kilometres from Mestia.
Around it is a close group of Svan shrines: seven hundred metres away stands the Jgrag Murkvam church, and a kilometre off the St. George churches of Ieli and Ats. The valley here is narrow and the villages cling to the slopes.
Small Svan churches rarely hold regular services, yet the shrine can be approached at any time. Follow the coordinates.
