The dedication here is given through a feast: Mariamoba, as the day of the Dormition of the Virgin at the end of August is called in Georgia. Naming a church after a feast rather than a saint is ordinary in the Georgian tradition, and such names hold firmer than official ones.
Isunderi lies fourteen kilometres from Tsageri, in the Lechkhumi mountains. The church of St. George of Zubi of the same village stands about two kilometres away, the ruins of Namarnevi five, the church near Larchvali six and a half. The valley here is narrow and the slopes wooded.
On Mariamoba at the end of August village churches gather the whole district; at other times services are not held every day. Dress modestly, a headscarf for women, quiet inside. The road is a mountain one and the unpaved stretches soften in rain and snow, so dry days are better.
