The place is known as Pirimze and is called the angel of the house foundation. In mountain Mtianeti that is the name of the protector of hearth and kin: people turned to him when a house was laid or when well being was asked for a family. What the word Pirimze itself means is not explained here.
The site stands in Chokhi, high in the mountains above Pasanauri. The church of St. George of the same village rises about seven hundred metres away, and there are no other neighbours nearby: the gorges here are deep, the villages few, and Pasanauri is about twelve kilometres off.
Such places are more often under the open sky than under a roof, and they have neither fence nor door. Offerings are left on the stones and moving them is not the custom. The warmer months are the better time to come; in winter snow closes the mountain roads, and the path here crosses an open slope, so closed shoes are worth taking.
