A church of Saint George in Didi Kldeisi. The name of the village translates as Greater Kldeisi, and its root is linked with the word for rock: such place names usually speak of the character of a place rather than of its people.
Didi Kldeisi lies between the Tsalka upland and the Manglisi direction, and holds a single shrine. The place is secluded: the nearest neighbouring churches, that of Peter and Paul in Imera and those of Gokhnari, lie eight kilometres away and further.
A visit here is planned on its own, as it will not fit on the way to other villages, so take time to spare. The rules are those of any working church: covered shoulders and knees, quiet, and a headscarf for women.
