The church of Saint George stands in the centre of Khachkoi village in Tsalka Municipality, on the site of an older Georgian church. It was raised of worked stone blocks, and the stones of the earlier church went into the work as well. Sources assign the building to the 12th and 13th centuries.
It is a hall building with a semicircular apse on the east. The west entrance is arched and the arch carries a cross and an eight pointed star, a pairing that turns up in villages here and points to later alterations.
Windows are cut in the east, south and north walls, the roof is covered with sheet metal, and a sheet metal bell tower stands by the entrance. The same village holds the chapel of Surb Karapet, also built from the stones of a dismantled Georgian church.
