The church of the Archangels stands in Sartichala. In Georgian churches the archangels Michael and Gabriel are most often painted together, and the dedication usually belongs to both at once.
Sartichala lies in Kvemo Kartli, on the road from Tbilisi to Kakheti, right on the boundary of the two provinces. Another church of the village, of St Lazarus, stands about a kilometre and a half away, and beyond the boundary the churches of Khashmi begin, the nearest of them some three and a half kilometres off.
The village is large and lies on a through road, and the church keeps parish life. The rules are the usual ones: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet, photography inside by permission. It is easiest to call in on the way, as the detour from the highway is short.
