The St Nino parish in Akhalsopeli is a living one, and the place is well known in the village. St Nino, who brought Christianity to Georgia, remains one of the commonest dedications in the country.
Akhalsopeli is covered more fully than the other local villages: it holds the churches of Mary Magdalene, of John the Baptist, of Tavtsminda Giorgi, the ruins of an old church and other places, and this parish is one of them. The village lies north-east of Tbilisi, at the very edge of the city district.
There are no regular services, and visits are arranged with the parish. The usual etiquette applies: covered shoulders and knees, quiet inside.
