A parish church of Saint Nino. For Kakheti the dedication is no ordinary one: the grave of the enlightener of Georgia lies here, at Bodbe, and the whole province is bound to her memory more closely than any other.
The church in Lako continues that line, even in the farthest eastern part of the province. It is known by Lako yet stands by Zemo Mskhalgori, north of Lagodekhi. The century of building is not established and no details have survived.
There are no regular services, so a Sunday morning is the surer time to come. Distances in eastern Kakheti are long, so it is worth gathering the nearby villages into one circuit. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf.
