The ruins of a small church stand near Kochbaani village. No dedication has stayed with it and it carries no separate name, so the place is known simply as the ruined church. There are no regular services here, and the walls stand open, without a fence or a keeper.
Kochbaani lies in the Kakhetian foothills, away from the main roads. The nearest neighbouring shrine, the church in the Kobtavi locality by Paldo village, stands about five and a half kilometres away, and a little further, in Ikvlivgorana, there is a working church of the Mother of God. Seven kilometres from here, at Gombori, runs the road over the pass to Telavi.
You can come up to the ruins at any hour: there are no gates and no fence. Treat the walls with care, do not climb the masonry, do not move the fallen stones and do not light a fire nearby. For believers such places remain holy long after a church has ceased to serve, so a noisy stop by the walls is out of place.
